TriMas Corporation and Habitat for Humanity Build Home for Local Family

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich., Oct. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- TriMas Corporation (NASDAQ: TRS) — a diversified manufacturer of engineered and applied products — announced today that it recently supported a Habitat for Humanity home in Madison Heights, Michigan, with funds and staff volunteers to construct the residence. TriMas began working on the home in September and completed the work in October.

"Part of our commitment as a company is to give back to our community," said David Wathen, president and chief executive officer of TriMas. "Not only were we granted a remarkable opportunity to support our community, but we also learned valuable lessons about working together and furthered the camaraderie amongst our employees."

Habitat for Humanity began building modest three-bedroom homes in Madison Heights in 2010. The nonprofit sells the homes at no interest and no profit to households that earn 30 - 60 percent of the median income in the city. In addition to seed funds Habitat for Humanity received from the city of Madison Heights in 2010, a variety of community and corporate partners provide additional funding and volunteers to complete the projects.

"Habitat for Humanity is really all about giving companies like TriMas an opportunity to invest directly in their community," said Kim Howard, Habitat for Humanity's manager of partnerships in Oakland County. "Their funds and their people are boosting the local economy and giving local neighborhoods stability for many years to come."
