BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich., July 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- TriMas Corporation (NASDAQ: TRS) — a diversified global manufacturer of engineered and applied products — today announced that its Rieke Packaging Systems business has been awarded membership renewal into the State of Indiana Department of Environmental Management's (IDEM) Environmental Stewardship Program (ESP). Rieke has been a member of ESP for three years. Rieke manufactures highly-engineered closure and
dispensing systems for a wide range of end markets, including industrial and consumer packaging applications. The recognized locations are located in Auburn and Hamilton, Indiana.
By being an ESP member, Rieke Packaging Systems is distinguished as one of a select group of facilities across Indiana to go above and beyond environmental requirements by implementing an environmental management system, committing to continuous improvement, and meeting stringent requirements for membership.
"Over the past several years, we have embraced continuous improvement objectives focused on reducing waste and protecting our environment," commented Lynn Brooks, president of Rieke Packaging Systems. "We are pleased that our efforts have continued to be recognized by the State of Indiana's Department of Environment Management. I am proud of the accomplishments and progress we have made to date. These efforts not only reduce waste, but also save money and benefit the community."
To become an ESP member, a business must maintain an exemplary compliance record, certify that it has adopted and implemented an approved environmental management system, and commit to specific measures for continued improvement in its environmental performance. Rieke became a member in October 2009. To earn the ESP membership in 2009, Rieke trained its employees on water conservation and preventative maintenance to improve water flow efficiency and leak inspections. Rieke continues to make these efforts a priority, resulting in recently granted membership renewal.
